Introducing Our Daughter...
On Thursday, June 6th, I became a mother. My daughter (!!!) Reva Eloise Katz was born at Lenox Hill Hospital after 40 weeks and 5 days of anticipation. She is a dream come true and we could not be happier to welcome her into the world. It’s surreal that we are finally a family of three… ok four, including our fluffy cub Maui.
When Brandon and I first started trying to conceive, we decided we wouldn’t find out the gender of the baby. I had a dream that I gave birth to a son, so I took that as a sign.. Then, I suppose because I was “carrying low” most of my friends and family shared that they thought the baby was a boy. In the delivery room, the doctor pulled Reva out and put her right on my body for some delicious skin-to-skin. After a few minutes, no one announced whether it was a boy or a girl. I guess they forgot we didn’t know? I waited and waited and then I was like HELLO PEOPLE IS IT A BOY OR A GIRL? Obviously, I was already sobbing and overwhelmed with joy regardless. They opened her legs like a spatchcocked chicken (lol) and said those three little words. It’s a girl.
I was in absolute shock, and on cloud nine. I had always wanted a daughter and I wasn’t expecting it to be a girl. The tears wouldn’t stop flowing. I have a daughter. I have a daughter. I have a daughter. It was all I could think to myself.
We could not be more excited for this amazing adventure of parenthood. I’m particularly looking forward to sharing the journey with you readers- motherhood is a wild, crazy, beautiful and complicated experience already.
Sending all my love,
