the weekend cast
Undoubtedly the best part of summer is the simple fact that weekends are almost always spent elsewhere. I'm realizing that for the last month, we've gone someplace or another to soak up the sun and get in a swim or two. The cute polaroid photo of me up top is from our recent camping trip! But this weekend, the tides have turned and I'm staying put. Brandon is off on his bachelor party (if you're reading this B, behave!) and I'm holding down the fort in Brooklyn. I'm looking forward to a weekend of extreme productivity; you know the kind that can only happen when you're flying solo. I plan on writing, going for long walks, drinking strong coffee, and catching up with a few old friends. I've also made plans to go to a music festival and go out for martinis so I don't go stir crazy! How about you? What does the last weekend of July have in store for you?
Some things from around the web I'm especially loving this week await below.
I want to buy these overalls and star in a benjamin moore commercial painting my first home in them. overly ambitious? maybe. totally adorable? definitely.
If you watch my instagram stories, you'll know that I love funky socks. Not the thick kind that are made for slumber parties. Nope. Fishnets with chunky ankle boots, glittery socks with sneakers, and frilly socks with masculine loafers.
I love sending my girlfriends flowers on their birthday or just because, but hate tacky bouquets. Recently I've discovered urban stems and am so pleased with their taste + execution! They even e-mail you pics of the flowers upon delivery so you don't have to send that awkward text like "ummm hi hey I sent you something did it arrive..." get $5 off with this link
this piece about what it's like to be a social media influencer really hit home. It made me think about my internal dialogue towards blogging. Somedays, I love sharing the shoes I'm wearing or intimate thoughts about my breakfast. Other days a pint of half-baked and a couch-surfing session on my floor-sale west elm sectional would be fine. ya know?
I just tried these vegan burgers and am SHOCKED at how great they taste. The main ingredient is pea protein, and they're colored with beet juice. The burgers are more processed than I'd like, so definitely not an everyday substitute, but an awesome alternative to know + have!
speaking of burgers, I had an incredibly juicy, cheesy, non-vegan one at Shindig last weekend. excited to share a "48 hours in Woodstock" itinerary with y'all soon!
I might take on a baking project this weekend. do you have recommendations? right now, I've got my eye on my favorite chocolate chip cookies bc well what can be better than the ultimate classic?
ok quick detour back to shopping.... this dress arrived in the mail today and it is so insanely livable. Like since when are silk maxi dresses flattering AND comfy? I'm not taking it off until the wedding and that's that.
intrigued by this personal shampoo that requires a quiz and a blood test (jk about the later) to create your own formula. would you try it out?
my friend jess has recently gotten into weaving, and she's inspired me to give it a try. I found this awesome DIY and am hoping to give it a shot next weekend!
oh and that's all I've got you guys! have an amazing weekend and give your loved ones a big hug and squeeze bc why the heck not?!
