the weekend cast
Hi friends! I'm writing this article from bed since I'm a wee bit tired; I've just returned from a few days in beautiful Boulder. I love that mountain town so much, and this time around, I got to experience Frasca. Frasca is a restaurant that focuses on the cooking of the Fruili-Venezia Giulia region in Italy. I know right- say that three times fast? Let's skip to the good part: they serve a "raviolo" stuffed with cheese fondue and a raw egg yolk that sits in a bath of prosciutto broth. Yes, it tasted as good as it sounds. I'll be writing some recommendations for what to do while you're in Boulder, but in the meantime, check out what else has inspired me this week.
Have you heard of meatless Mondays? If not, the idea is not eating meat at least one day a week, and why not Monday because hey, alliteration. I was recently introduced to tempeh sausage and seriously loved how filling it was, without weighing me down. I'll be making this recipe for dinner on Monday. You should try it too!
I discovered a non-toxic nail salon in Soho that I'll be trying out tomorrow! A manicure costs $25 so it's a bit pricier than your average salon, but not absurdly so. Do you have a go-to nail color? I'm a sucker for light pinks!
How did you do on Prime Day? I finally splurged and got myself an instant camera! I chose a Fujifilm with a wide lens so that you can see our big, cheesy smiles from a mile away :) We never print photos anymore, and I really want to use during our roadtrip to Maine later this summer!
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this quirky piece in the New Yorker about avocado toast. My favorite quote: "I grew up in coastal California, the proud heart of the avocado belt. Yet I had never heard of avocado toast before coming to New York, which seemed odd, since New York avocados are mostly disgusting—small, starchy, and at once underripe and bruised." Ha!
I bought myself this skirt in black and must say, it's even more beautiful in person. It's on sale now with an extra 20% off so check it out if you love frilly, ruffly, girly things.
I took a bath for the first time in ages, and was quickly reminded of how relaxing a warm soak is. I added a few drops of lavender essential oil, and a big scoop of bath salts to make the 20-minutes extra luxurious.
and that's all I got! have a wonderful Friday, get outside this weekend, and enjoy yourself with friends and family :)
