How to Throw A Dinner Party Like A Parisian
While I'm not French by origin, my mother truly believes that she was French in a past life. So genetically speaking, I may be at least 25% French. That's how genetics work, right??
The illusion of a Parisian woman and her effortless style, her grace, her ease, her je ne sais quoi isn't so out of reach for us New Yorkers. All we have to do is give up a little bit of control and stop stressing. HA- trust me, I know how challenging that can be. I personally get very worked up often times when I'm getting ready to have people over. Will there be enough food? What if the I overcook the pasta? What if, what if, what if.
What if we stop stressing and start living? Friends are friends and family even more so is happy just to enjoy your company. Let's figure out a menu that will allow us to prep almost everything far enough in advance that when it comes time to party, we can kick back with a Kir Royale.
All of my decorations and table settings were ordered just days before on Amazon prime, and I did most of the heavy-lift cooking way before guests arrived. With a few tips and tricks, you too can throw a soirée that will make you feel like a cool Parisian lady. Don't forget you'll need two times the wine you'd normally buy.
See below the menu that I made. All week long I'll be sharing recipes for these dishes, so stay tuned! You can already check out the first appetizer by clicking the link attached.
