Do You Like Your Birthday?

Everyone who knows me well is probably laughing at the title of this article. Why? Because they know how much I love my birthday. It's not like I don't recognize that this is likely inappropriate for someone over the age of 5, but alas... I wait for it, I plan for it, I celebrate it, five times over, and then I await her return like an anxious toddler.

How Often Do You Think About Yourself? (Thoughts and Photos, Crete 2018)

For as long as I can recall, my grandfather has dreamt of taking his whole family on a summer vacation. Stay in a villa somewhere, swim in the ocean, eat ice cream two times a day, the good life. For a man who came to America at 42, and who has 3 daughters and 7 grandchildren this was quite a grand dream. This year, it finally happened and we spent a week together in Crete. I am writing this article from our flight home, and peppered throughout you’ll find photos of me and the gang.

What Are Your Goals This Year?

Ah, resolutions. A wonderful way to set goals for ourselves as we close one chapter of our lives, and hit refresh to start a new year. Goals are also an easy way to fail, if you set ones for yourself that are lofty and unrealistic. Nonetheless, I'll take any excuse to think about how I can get/feel/be better, so I always write resolutions. I normally do them before the clock strikes twelve, but this year, I couldn't figure out what I wanted in time. I decided to wait, and I am happy that I did. A couple (okay, like six) hours in bed and some quiet time yesterday really brought some clarity to me, and I was able to hear my inner voice. I know what my intentions and goals for the new year are.

The Best Wedding Advice I Received

I find that the best advice is always tactical. Someone doesn't tell you "eat" but instead they say "ask your catering manager to pull you away for 10 minutes during the cocktail hour so you can quickly eat." They don't say "be in the moment" but instead, they remind you what your wedding is about, and how you can actually be in the moment. This is what my MOH, Sofya, did for me.

A Week Before My Wedding

Good morning, dear readers. You may have noticed that last week, I didn't share a "weekend cast" with you. To be completely honest, my mind has been occupied with a zillion, and yes, I do mean zillion, little details. I wanted to share some pockets of thought inside my brain leading up to the big day. I wonder if other brides have experienced similar thoughts? Let's see...

love talk: who calls the shots?

In preparation for our wedding, we’ve had several meetings with our Rabbi. We not only discuss the logistics of our ceremony, but also the deeper issues that exist in married life. When we first met him, he asked us if we’d talked about power, sex and money. We kind of looked around and laughed and were like “uhhh…. yes? No? Idk?”

My Bridal Shower!

I am still floating on a happy cloud of pink candy, ocean views, and strawberries fizzing in champagne. This past Sunday was my bridal shower and the women who planned it absolutely killed the game. I wanted to share some photos with you guys, as well as some of my favorite highlights.

Did You Write Your Wedding Vows?

Brandon and I are both Jewish, and decided have a traditional Jewish ceremony. Usually, this ceremony doesn't include personal vows, but in the modern world, it's not uncommon to see couples integrate them. I love the idea, but unfortunately, I've got one issue: I'm a huge crybaby.

love talk: how 30-minutes, 1x a week can benefit your relationship

Because our weekdays are so jam-packed with activities, Brandon and I started to think about a way to spend time together outside of dinner/in front of the tv/ in bed falling asleep. I am a morning person, and I also love walking, so I recommended morning walks. Brandon was on board with the idea, and so we gave it a shot. We scheduled one day a week on the calendar to wake up early and go for a walk together.

love talk: it's the little things

Did you know that a cacti plant can explode? I certainly didn't. When Brandon came home from his bachelor party on Sunday night, and walked over to his night table (very hungover, might I add), there was a sort of dried, brown water goop everywhere. Lovely, I know. We couldn't figure out where the HELL it was coming from until we saw our beloved cactus (photo above), deflated and limp, hanging over the lip of the vase. "WHAT THE HELL!?!" We both were shocked at 1) how on earth that happened and 2) how gross the thought of plant juice drying all over the wall and nightstand was.
